I took this shot last Saturday when we went out earlier than usual so we could be back home to watch Brazil vs Holland. Normally we go out when it is already dark.
Summer in Malta is the time to go out and enjoy life. This is Independence Garden in Sliema, situated at a level between the the promenade and the rocky beach where we go to swim every day. The flags have been mounted by the festa committee of St Gregory’s Parish Church for one of their weekend Malta Nights to collect funds for the decorations and fireworks for the festa day which will be the last Sunday of August or first of September. There would be typical Maltese food for sale on these Malta Nights. The fountain has been shut off for the evening. The flag nearest to the camera is the national flag of Malta; next to it is the Papal flag, a sign which links the occasion to the church. The other two flags are the colours of the religion (I think). I liked the reflection of the flags in the fountain.
During Summer my postings will be mostly of night shots. In the morning we go to swim and I don’t dare leave my camera on the beach unattended so it is left at home.
Yesterday night I had the opportunity to again take some fabulous shots (I hope) which I will show in the coming days.
Tour de France: I do not see anyone around capable of beating Nibali who is far above the other riders (those left) in this year’s tour. Yesterday was another show he made leaving the others far behind even though he lost his best team mate before the final climb. I am marvelled every time to see those riders going up those never-ending climbs and waking up the next day for more.
Many thanks for looking and for your wonderful comments and the fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Instant fav. What an enchanting garden scene overlooking the water. Great composition and I like how you caught the colorful flags. I also enjoyed your narrative.
this is wonderful picture and nice of the wind to ruffle the flags for you. i agree about nibali, but it was fun to see the polish rider have his day in the sun today.
