Tuscany – Day 7, last day.
“The king is dead. Long live the king!” I hear a crowd of fighting men shout with joy while others flee for their life. Goliath is fallen and the battle has been won.
Our last day was in Pisa where we had some time before going to the airport to catch the plane back home. And what is the place you visit first when you go to Pisa? Piazza dei Miracoli, of course, where stands the leaning tower. Apart from the multitude of people who thronged the place, this ‘thing’ attracted my attention most. What was it? I don’t know. I think it was something which had to do with the museum that was behind. It and it gave me the impression with which I started this commentary.
Thank you very much for looking and for the lovely comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.
Great shot of the interesting sculpture. I like how the people walking past are almost ignoring it, like it's usual to see a statue embedded in the ground.
Interesting capture. I heard from a friend who visited recently that there is an exhibition of 'Fallen Angels' in Piazza dei Miracoli. Could this be part of the exhibition? it has certainly fallen!
An interesting image, and interesting to see the expressions of solid indifference on the faces of those it was supposed to impress. Art's like that isn't it? "In the eye of the beholder".
I do have some shots of statues the same way but those are there to be repaired. Even bronze statues need to be look after. This is a very huge one, a great find and capture
I can't believe so many people are walking past this and barely looking at it. It's like this is commonplace to them. I don't know, but I'd be staring at it for quite some time! But then I was a Fine Arts major in my undergrad days! It does seem to have something to do with the museum though. Great shot!!
Oh, Pisa. That was our first destination in Italy a very long time ago. Driving in Pisa scared us to death, so we took the train for our other visits! LOL! I don't think we saw this, though. Fabulous!
