The bond between the owner and her best friend is well demonstrated here. Last Sunday was the feast of St Anthony Abbot, the Protector of pets. In churches dedicated to this saint, there is the blessing of animals. This is at one of them.
BTW the man of yesterday’s picture wasn’t holding his nose in his jump. He had his goggles in one hand and the pipe to breath underwater in the other.
Joke: A man went to visit a friend and was amazed to find him playing chess with his dog. He watched the game in astonishment for a while. "I can hardly believe my eyes!" he exclaimed. "That's the smartest dog I've ever seen."
"Nah, he's not so smart," the friend replied. "I've beaten him three games out of five."
Thank you for looking and for the lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
What a lovely image.....you can definitely sense the love and trust between that little doggie and its owner. When I lived in NYC they used to have the blessing of the animals on St. Anthony's day at St. Patrick's Cathedral, and I always wanted to bring my pets, but cats are not as cooperative or fond of traveling!
What a sweet, loving photo so beautifully captured.....just had to fav this. We take Daisy (our Bichon) to the pet blessing every October on St. Patrick of Assisi Feast Day. I didn't know about St. Anthony Abbot. Will have to check him out to see if there are any activities in our area. We can't give our precious pets enough blessings ;-) Cute joke, too.
