Some shots from the Xgħara Good Friday procession which we attended.
I think the whole of the Xgħara community gave a hand in raising this procession which was also in the form of a pageant with hundreds taking part in the defile. Those who didn’t helped in the organisation of the event.
In this collage:
Top right and left: Roman soldiers on horseback
Top middle: An Jewish soldier from Herod’s retinue on horseback
Bottom left: Abel with a sheep together with Cain
Bottom right: Man with his donkey that carried Jesus on Palm Sunday
The organisers were very meticulous to detail. One fact was that the horsemen weren’t using saddles to ride their horses.
We arrived late to watch the procession as it was coming out of church so we walked the route vice versa until we came up again to the starting point so we could see it all.
Joke: Two boys were walking home from church after hearing a strong preaching on the devil. One said to the other, "What do you think about all this Satan stuff?"
The other boy replied, "Well, you know how Santa Claus turned out. It's probably just your dad"
Thank you so much for looking and for the lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
Beautiful collage - so glad you posted all the shots - the whole story was captured so nicely. I am amazed at all the work that has gone into the Holy Days in your country. That is wonderful.
You have captured it very well. Great collage
