Five grandfathers and one grandmother. Shot taken on 27th June – Second day of our vacation.
Our first stop was at Furtwangen – at one time a major clock producer. We visited the Deutsches Uhrenmuseum (German Cloks and Watch Museum) where there were exhibited thousands of clocks (and watches) of German make.
I asked Christine to pose for me near these five marvellous grandfather clocks so you could calculate their size.
Joke: A security officer was asked to transport one of the antique grandfather clocks from the museum to a store near by. As he came out of the museum a drunk came stumbling down the street. The officer bumps into the drunk, fell down, and busted the clock all to pieces. All agitated, the security officer got up and said to the drunk, "Why don't you watch where you're going?" The drunk replied,"Why don't you wear a wristwatch like everyone else?"
Many thanks for looking and for all the lovely comments and for the fav's on yesterday's picture. Thank you so much for putting yesterday's shot in pp.
I don't know how you find all these jokes that apply to your photos! It is great entertainment! I love Grandfather clocks but have no room for one now so its nice to see so many!
They are very big - I don't think I've ever seen a long case clock quite as large as these! Fab capture, Dione, love the interpretation too.
Were there any more in the room? Their plaques on the floor remind me of hour markers on a clock face and make me think it would be fun if there were twelve of them. :-)
they are all gorgeous
