Sunset from Ċirkewwa – note the dot on the c. In the Maltese alphabet the only c we have is the c with a dot on top and it has the sound of ‘ch’ in English. Ċirkewwa is the small harbour from where the Gozo Ferry Service operates and the nearest you can get to Gozo by land. Subsequent political parties in government have been considering building a permanent link between Malta and Gozo. A bridge has been ruled out and an underground tunnel is now under consideration. I am one who is not in favour of any such permanent link.
Took this shot while we waited on the ferry to take us to Gozo for a weekend with my sister and her husband a fortnight ago. In the foreground is an old lighthouse, no longer in use.
Joke: A reporter was interviewing a ferryboat Captain who was celebrating his 82nd birthday. He was the oldest captain on the water. At the end of the interview the reporter said, "I would love to come back and see you again when you reach 90.The captain said, " Don't see why not. You look healthy enough to make it!"
Many thanks for looking and for the lovely comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.
This is a gorgeous sunset! FAV!! I think I can see your reasoning for not wanting such a link....it will probably bring a lot more people to Gozo! And, thanks for that little spelling/pronunciation lesson....the same sound in the Turkish language is made with a C that has a little curlique at the bottom; however, they do have a C with a hard sound, too!
A beautiful fav. shot of the sea and awesome sky. great capture od the sun layers.

Middelburg. The city I took most of my pic.`s
About a third of the old city centre was bombed in the early phases of World War II, on May 17, 1940, it is still not sure wheter it were German bombers or French artillery. The town was captured and liberated by British troops during Operation Infatuate on 5 November 1944. After the War, as much of the destroyed part of the old town center was rebuilt and restored along pre-War lines as possible. .
