From the last day of our Sicily holiday – 23rd September, 2015.
Walking along the main streets of Acireale I noticed this alley with all those steps and I thought it would make a great picture. You may say “What an anticlimax after the two shots of yesterday and the day before”. Because of it’s proximity to Etna and its frequent eruptions, the stones used for building and material for surfacing streets are mostly lava and the overall colours of the town makes it look like the town and its old buildings have long ago been neglected.
Joke: I was walking down an alley last night, when I heard,"Help! Help!" coming from behind a dumpster. Two thugs were trying to steal an old lady's handbag, but she putting up a Hell of a fight and wouldn't let go. I wondered if I should get involved, or keep walking and pretend I didn't see anything... I finally decided that I should help. It didn't take the three of us very long to get her handbag.
Many thanks for looking, for the lovely comments and fav's on yesterday's picture and for putting it on tp and pp. Very much appreciated.
A great view and capture of the nice steps and into that lovely alley.
Churches without any decoration ( just painted white ) are very impressing and overwhelming. Inspiration to many artist to paint them in the past .
