‘Balluta’ or ‘Si ġ ra ta-Ballut’ is the Maltese name for oak tree. The place is named Balluta probably for an oak tree or trees that was/were located in this area. On my part I never saw them.
So this is Balluta Bay with Balluta church dedicated to Our Lady of Carmel and a few buildings on each side of it that have escaped development, probably because they are protected by law. I took this shot from the first step up from the beach.
I was inspired to take this shot by a similar picture which covers a wall 4 metres wide at one of the LIDL outlets which is in San Gwann.
Below those steps – more of a retaining wall for the street above – is a small sandy beach at the moment covered by high ‘tide’ which is actually not tide but the rise in the sea level as happens in the Mediterranean every now and then.
Thank you very much for looking and for all the lovely comments, the fav's and for helping my shot of yesterday reach tp and pp.
