The last parish to celebrate the feast of its patron saint in Sliema was St Gregory’s. The feast was on Sunday, 4th September, but I took this shot on the previous Friday when all the outdoor decorations were in place. I have been wanting to take a shot like this for quite some time and this was a good occasion to do so. St Gregory doesn’t face on a square so I had to take the shot from across the street.
St Gregory’s is the last but one of the five parish churches in Sliema to be made a parish. It was built in 1923 and declared a parish in 1943. One interesting fact about this church is that it was built by German prisoners of war.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. I was awed by your response to my sunrise shot of yesterday.
