We woke up to internet problems this morning. There was a thunderstorm during the night (which I didn’t even hear) and it must have damaged the internet lines. Anyway, now everything is back to normal.
This is a bird’s eye view from the Lower Barracca. I took a shot of the lone dgħajsa (pron: dye-sa) traversing the harbour. As for the gull it just popped up from another earlier picture thanks to Photoshop.
The Maltese dgħajsa was a popular means of transport between different parts of the harbours before the introduction of motorised sea transport. As a result, it lost much of its popularity but has survived and nowadays there are a few dgħajjes (that’s the plural of dgħajsa) that are now used for pleasure trips around harbours or bays for tourists who visit the Islands.
Thank you so much for looking and for all the comments and fav's on yesterday's picture.
Great processing. Before reading your commentary, I wondered where you had taken this shot from since it would have had t be from a point even higher than the bird.
