I was early at the chapel on Sunday and there were people waiting for a special mass to begin – special because it was only for the occasion as otherwise the chapel is normally closed. After a good look I left to visit some catacombs that were also open about 1 km away at Mqabba and returned later to take some more shots.
Top shot left: Ħal-Millieri Chapel when I arrived. A few people are waiting to hear the mass which was scheduled for 10.00am
Bottom right: the chapel was full of people and others were on the outside hearing this guide giving loads of information of medieval Malta and particularly the little hamlet of Ħal-Millieri and its chapel. The guy was a fountain of information and without any notes whatsoever spent at least one hour giving his lecture.
Bottom left is a marble plaque commemorating how youths from Din l-Art Ħelwa cleared the area in 1968 so that the place could be enjoyed by the people.
Other pictures are some of the medieval frescoes to be found in the chapel.
Such a beautiful interior for this little chapel. Wonderful collage and very interesting information in your narrative. I think you could easily be one of these guides. :-)
