5th day of our Portugal holiday of last Easter.
You may recall, that when I posted shots from our first day I had written how disappointed I was for missing entrance into this monastery because of the long queue there was waiting to go inside.
This time we were there in mid-afternoon, still some queue but not that much and we had until 5.30pm to go around the place.
These are three shots of this monastery. I have never seen a monastery with such elaborate architecture and sculptures.
The Jerónimos Monastery or Hieronymites Monastery was secularised on 28 December 1833 by state decree. It was classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. The existing structure was inaugurated on the orders of Manuel I (1469–1521).
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
