This is a merge of 6 shots to show the Mosta Rotunda from the inside – the church I showed yesterday. I took three shots of the floor of the church, now a basilica, and three shots of the ceiling. On the computer I first merged the three floor shots, then merged the three ceiling shots and finally merged the two merged shots together to get this picture.
The Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady commonly known as the Rotunda of Mosta was built between 1833 and the 1860s to neoclassical designs of Frencg architect Giorgio Grognet de Vassé. The design is based on the Pantheon in Rome, and at one point had the third largest unsupported dome in the world.
Btw some of you pointed out the red columns. I have to say that these are made of natural stone and at the moment were covered with red damask for the festa week
Thank you so much for your views, comments and fav's on yesterday's picture.
