This is San Ġwann Parish Church, dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes as it was decorated on 1st January, 2019. San Ġwann is where I live.
I went on purpose to take some shots of the decorations in between Services and was disappointed and I tell you why. I had been wanting to go take a few shots since the preparations for Christmas when, up to the last day of 2018 the floor in front of the altar was covered with straw with a manger and a The Baby Child on it. This made a lovely display.
When I went on 1st January, the decorations in front of the altar were gone and I said to myself “How is this? They are supposed to remain there until Epiphany”. Then I saw a statue of Jesus as a boy sitting on a chair on top of the Tabernacle and I realized that this indicated that the baby had grown up. You can see him there in this picture.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
Lovely decorations....must have taken ages to create. Your churches are very beautiful. I like church architecture, especially the really old churches.
Your churches are so overwhelming decorated. I love the sober ones.
Geese are well protected in our country. The farmes will be compenseted for the damage the do. ( eating the grass and you won`t walk on it by the droppings.)
Beautiful shot- yes I guess it would stand to reason that the Christ child should be depicted as older since most scholars believe Him to be about 2 when the Magi arrived. (although I'd have been disappointed as you were too!) I am quite behind on my project- posting and viewing but I did catch up with all your photos and am only leaving a comment here. I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
