A storm like we have never seen before hit Malta during the last weekend causing a lot of damage.
Yesterday morning through the local media people were being warned to stay inside and to leave their house only in emergency cases. I was, however, determined not to be cheated by the rough weather and discarded the warning despite Christine’s plea not to go out. The weather was like nothing I have seen before in my life. Lashed by the ferocious wind and rain, one couldn’t even force open the car’s door without a lot of effort. So I got my car to Balluta square, got out of the car in the rain and ran for shelter under an umbrella that was left open (and was still in place at the time) by one of the coffee shops to try to take some shots. It was not possible to approach the promenade where I was.
The haze created by the sea spray was so thick that a really good picture was impossible to take. The two shots in this collage are intended to show the force of the storm. I took them in colour but there was no colour to show. The building which is being drowned by the waves is the St Julian's Waterpolo Club.
Thank you so much for looking and for the comments on yesterday’s picture.
Know all abouth what a storm and water can do. We alway`s remmember the big flood of 1953 in our country. I was 13 then. .
Great captures. Glad no one is hurt. Peaches will grow again.
