Capers give a wonderful taste to Summer dishes like salads, tomatoes, olive oil, some tuna and other juicy ingredients. Some Maltese bread goes best with them. Capers are the buds of the flowers before they open – you can see a few here. Put them for some time in olive oil or vinegar and you get the best taste. The caper tree grows wide, through crevices in the rock mostly.
Took this shot while on our walk to Mġiebaħ beach.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and fav’s; much appreciated.
Makes my mouth water Dione ! and a beautiful capture of this bush , such a shame to use the buds before seeing the glory of the flower !( I do realise they are grown for commercial purpose !)
Thank you for sharing this information. I found it quite fascinating as I was not aware of it before. The Caper has such a stunning flower, that you have so beautifully captured here.
That's so interesting- I have a jar of them in the fridge for a recipe I've made but never knew what they really were. I will now have to try them in a salad! Nice shot!
