Ireland – fourth day of our holiday (21th July, 2019).
Stopped at Baltimore. By now it was raining and few people were out on the streets. This seemed to be a nice village but we hate walking around in the rain. We saw this small castle, Dun Na Sead, close to the water’s edge and Ian and I decided to visit with Max to pass some time. It was small but quaint. Inside I saw a picture which I thought resembled the lady at the door, so I walked up to her and started a conversation and in between told her that the lady in the picture looked very much like her. Her reply was ‘yes, that is me’ it was she many years ago and she recounted the story that she and her husband had inherited the castle and decided to renovate it and open it for visitors.
I had quite a job with this photo because there were power lines going in every direction just in front of the castle; but patiently I managed to hide most of them. You can see the original picture in the insert,
Thank you so much for your views, comments and fav's.
Well done - you did a great job in erasing all those ugly power lines ! Such an old building but in my mind doesn't resemble a castle ( after all what is defined as a castle !!) When you started telling us of meeting the lady - at first I thought you had met a ghost ! ha !!
Wow Dione - you did a great job of cloning out the lines!! And the castle itself looks so wonderfully old - and so well built to stand attack. It must have been great to meet the owners. :)
Wow you did do well taking all those ugly lines out. A very cute castle....fancy renovating that ....quite a challenge! Talking to people is so interesting & the Irish love to talk!
Nice to meet the owner and get some history first hand.
