Churches in Malta opened for mass and prayers quite a few weeks ago. We have been going to Sunday mass on Saturdays evening for 3 week (if not 4) now. Churches are keeping well to the protocol adopted between Church and State.
Last Saturday we went to St Gregory’s Church in Sliema – we were early and I had time to take a couple of shots with my mobile to show how this church reacted. People are expected to put on masks or visors and are counted as they go in to limit the amount of people in the church to the agreed number; sanitizer is sprayed on the palm of their hands as they go in and they are allowed to sit only on alternate benches as marked on each side of each bench to keep to social distancing. Safer than that would be impossible – it doesn’t mean that all churches are as strict as this one, but they do follow the protocol in their own way. In church you feel safer than outside.
Thank you very much for your views and comments on yesterday's picture. It has to be a female to notice that I was wearing the same shirt in both pictures.
So weird to be so spaced apart. I watched my church service online again yesterday and they had some of the congregation in - just a few at big distances from each other and they weren't allowed to sing out loud. At that point, I felt better off in my kitchen watching on the screen as I could sing my heart out! But I do miss meeting other people.
Such a very different way we are living....We have had Church online since March & have been very blessed & are now able to invite a few friends in to share with us which is so great! We can then enjoy coffee but, do keep the required distancing. Beautiful Church.
Interesting to see this...our church hasn’t opened yet. They had a meeting & some of the older congregation were nervous still so waiting a couple of weeks. Same rules going to be in place here but communion at the end of mass, one way round & straight out the door. I would like to go again but the door is still locked! Looks a beautiful church...warm colours.
What a lovely church.
