Shot taken a fortnight ago at Salini Salt Pans. One of the very few descent pictures I took of the day and enlarged over and over.
After I went to the Salini Salt Pans with Max 5/6 weeks ago I wanted to get myself a better zoom lens for my Nikon camera so I started to search for a good second hand one on the internet. I found a lens that goes up to 300 while mine reaches 200. My knowledge of lenses amounts to zero so I copied and sent it to my son and son-in-law for their opinions. Instead my son-in-law had a Sigma lens similar to the one I showed them and he insisted I should have it as his interest in photography was now nil. I accepted it only as a lending.
So 2 weeks ago I decided to try it out at Salini. The single Egret I had seen on the previous occasion had increased to 8 or ten. Probably the other time, Mrs Egret was looking after her babies in a nest they had made.
With the Sigma I couldn't get one shot really focused, as I had to take my shots fully manual which I don't mind but guessing the settings was somewhat hard and I had no tripod to keep the camera steady.
Thank you so very much for your amazing response to my picture of yesterday.
It works well & your egret looks clear & large! I think you were lucky you didn’t buy the other lens & then your SIL say ‘ oh you could have had mine!’
