ST LAWRENCE CEMETERY by sangwann

ST LAWRENCE CEMETERY

Continuing my visit to the Cottonera Lines. I saw this gate open as I walked along what I considered to be the Cottonera Lines from inside the fortifications. By that time I had arrived at the boundary of Birgu. I knew it was a cemetery as soon as I saw it and decided to have a look inside. St Lawrence is the saint to whom the local parish church is dedicated and so I presumed the statue facing the gate was of him. The other two shots in the collage are of rows of tombs that I saw in there.
Thank you for your visits, for your comments and for the fav’s..

Love the flowers and the beautiful tombs. Here they put no names, just a plain stone at the head and feet to mark where somebody is buried...
