Did you see the light behind the buildings in yesterday’s post? The light was the result of another village festa which was being celebrated on the same day as that of St Julians. Għargħur is a village a few miles away from Sliema; the patron saint is St. Bartholomew. Before buildings were being extended upwards we could see the fireworks of that village perfectly and now we can see only specks of light above the buildings. This was one exception which rose higher than the buildings and was very clear to see. These are the real Maltese fireworks. Għargħur has its own fireworks factory.
