FORT ST ANGELO by sangwann

FORT ST ANGELO

Shot taken some weeks ago from Valletta across the Grand Harbour towards Birgu, also known as Vittoriosa. Vittoriosa, meaning Victorious, was given to the city in 1565 after the Great Siege when the Order of St John and Malta together with the Maltese managed to repel the ferocious much, much bigger forces of the ottoman empire .At the time St Angelo was the seat of the Order. It was also the seat of the British Mediterranean fleet during British rule
Tonight back to Malta.

What a lovely composition and interesting history Dione. I love the lady with her cell phone, just not sure if you put her there ;-)
