My full name is Spiridione Giorgio, I am named Spiridione after my grandfather on my father’s side who I never met because he died before I was born but I have a picture of him which I treasure. Everybody knows me as Dione and ever since I was born my parents always called me by my abbreviated name.
The top left shot of this collage which is of a street sign at Rabat, Gozo, says “Strada S. Giorgio”. Strada is the Italian name for street so the street is named after me. But the whole name is in Italian being Saint George’s Street – an anticlimax isn’t it? But it is fun to see. Before Malta became a British colony the most important language, apart from Maltese, was Italian and this street sign must be from those times, that is before 1813 and has been kept for posterity. The two other shots are of the gang walking along this narrow street which runs along one of the sides of St George’s Basilica which is a landmark beauty in Rabat.
Thank you very much for looking, for your comments and for thefav's on yesterday's picture.

A lovely collage of these historical streets and so nice that the sign has remained.
