I rescued this old hat of Dad's from the bag of clothes I dropped off at the charity shop yesterday. Just felt I had to photograph it a bit first on Dad's chair before I could let go of everything. My mother understood and I think she liked seeing me set up my tripod just the way I did to photograph him smoking a few months ago!
@cottiac Thank you. He was a gentleman. Made me feel like a lady. Always lifted his hat, and also stood up when I went into their little cottage - didn't think of that until I commented now, but maybe that is why I suddenly felt a need to photograph the hat. I didn't need to keep back any of his other clothes!
Beautiful light and lovely shot. You don't have to get rid of everything do you? I've got one of my mother's scarves and her handbag with all its contents (might be my photo for the 22nd - 6 years since she passed)
@peggyhuffman Thank you Peggy. I never thought of using the word Portrait, but in a way it is! @beckyk365 Thanks Becky. I guess our fathers came from the same era when boys were taught to be gentlmen. @777margo Thank you
@narayani Thanks Narayani. No, I don't have to get rid of everything. I have a few small items tucked away in my bedside drawer, but they were treasured possessions of his, whereas these are personal, everyday possessions. Maybe it is okay to keep these too as these are more a part of who he was recently. The treasured possessions include the compass he used in the war. That is also who he was, but from a long time ago.
@beckyk365 Thanks Becky. I guess our fathers came from the same era when boys were taught to be gentlmen.
@777margo Thank you
