This is the variety of cormorant that I see around Puget Sound when I go walking. This shot was taken at the Don Armeni Park which is located in West Seattle on Elliott Bay. The park is also directly adjacent to downtown Seattle when looking across Elliott Bay. This shot was taken several days ago. "Double-crested Cormorants are large waterbirds with small heads on long, kinked necks. They have thin, strongly hooked bills, roughly the length of the head. Their heavy bodies sit low in the water." Thanks for stopping by.
An excellent shot, Gloria. I love your composition. I like how the cormorant's feet are draped over the post and how he is looking off into the distance. Nice catchlight in his beautiful green eye! Such an appealing image! Big Fav!!
I've taken many cormorant shots, though usually from a distance. So I know how hard in can be to get nice detail in the black of their feathers. Your shot came out marvelously well. Well done. A fav.
