Puget Sound Merganser

This shot was taken in February of this year. Photographing water birds on the sea is a lot more challenging than on lake due to the sea's water movement. Puget Sound is an interior waterway sourced by the Salish Sea. Thanks for stopping by.

Also ... an interesting note about our mergansers. They are often on rivers around here and their babies can easily be lost in the swift currents. But not to worry! Any female merganser swimming by will just pick up lost babies and add them to her family. I love that!
