A couple of days ago I was at Lowman Beach and happened to look up at the sky. There was a bright, white, glowing circle that began to transform, before my very eyes, into the colors that you see in this shot. Could this be a minuscule opening to view heaven, I wondered? Unfortunately, no. Here's what I found out: "Cloud iridescence or irisation is a colorful optical phenomenon that occurs in a cloud and appears in the general proximity of the Sun or Moon. The colors resemble those seen in soap bubbles and oil on a water surface. It is a type of photometeor."
I thought this was a parhelion or sundog too and caused by ice crystals in the atmosphere - super shot not easy to capture. I always think these are special to spot.
Good shot! Fav!
