This witch hazel is growing in our from garden, and I always look out for the flowers as being one of the first signs that winter is on the wane. Doesn’t seem like it though, with the recent snowfall. Back to work today, driving along roads surfaced with rutted ice, despite overnight gritting. After a lovely weekend enjoying the snow on the fields and Croft Hill, the town centre can only be described as grubby – most areas have been gritted, leaving a dirty brown slush that splashes over your shoes and trousers. I can’t wait to get home and head out with the dogs through the white powdery snow that falls off boots and paws with just a gentle tap against a step or rub with a towel.
