Swan re-visited by shepherdman

Swan re-visited

You may have met this chap before. During the snow a couple of weeks ago the two swans who reside on the wildlife ponds, not far from the quarry, escaped from the ice by migrating to the adjacent river. This swan and his mate were about half a mile downstream from the ponds, and I suspect that they the same pair. Messing about on the river obviously suits them. This morning was also frosty, not enough to freeze the ponds, but enough to harden the muddy footpaths, and I was hopeful of returning with clean dry pooches. I took them for a run on the “cow’s field”, pasture land by the river that is the first to flood, but also the first to drain. It is has presumably always been pasture since it retains the ridge and furrow pattern of medieval ploughing. The furrows were still waterlogged, and the dogs had great fun breaking the ice and splashing along them. So much for the clean and dry pooch plan.
Oh dear - so more cleaning paws etc when you got in! A beautiful shot and super reflection too. You have managed to avoid the white being too white (blown? is it?) which is quite difficult to do.
