What a difference from last year, when I see from last July’s 365 photos that I was grumbling because even the driest dog walks were wet and muddy. This year the soil is dry and even the “drought tolerant” plants are looking a bit tired. This evening we decided that we could justify giving the garden a good soaking with the hose before continuing with the normal routine of filling a watering can from the rain water butts to give a little TLC to individual drooping specimens. I’m sure that the splashing from the hose was accompanied by a whirring noise. That will be the water meter going round…..
