There is certainly know rush to leap out of bed to see the morning sunrise at this time of the year – since I am working tonight I was able to have an extra hour in bed, a leisurely cup of tea with the paper, and still be out with the dogs as the sun was yawning and stretching. As it turned out this was the best part of the day, since by the end of the dog walk the sky was covered by a blanket of grey cloud which hadn’t so much blown in with the wind, but sort of coalesced, the sun gradually fading and eventually disappearing. Meteorologists would no doubt assure me that with cloud cover increasing and dawn behind us, the temperature would be on the rise. It didn’t feel that way as sunshine gave way to greyness.
