From my get pushed partner last week, continued into this week: pick a mundane object in your house ... find some random light (a desk lamp, sun coming in the window, flashlight, candlelight)... and set up a shot paying attention to how you are using the light and what the shadows are doing... practice making the most of available light...
The light in this one really surprised me once I got it on the big screen. Was not nearly this impressive in the view finder. Composition may be a little iffy, but the challenge was on light and shadow, so I'm calling it good enough! It's quite a challenge finding available light that's in a spot where I can use it for these shots. At this time of year, it just doesn't hit the walls or even the floor in such a way as to be useable in the afternoons when I get home. I usually have about 15 minutes before it's gone behind trees for the evening.
Still working to get caught up, and have the added challenge of working on the new Mac (totally foreign to me, but making headway!) Had to move all my pics from my external storage drive to a new external drive that had to ship from Amazon and was a day late, then reformat the old drive to Mac and transfer everything back because the new drive is destined for dh. It's been a few days of seeming up in the air, but finally have things in place to be able to work again from this desk. Still getting caught up at work and with clients, but I really am still anticipating being able to relax with some coffee and get caught up here with everyone! (One might think I had given birth to the twins myself with the upheaval those precious bundles have wreaked!)
ooooooh! look at this! love how you've got the emphasis on the shadow - including some light! very nicely done :)
incidentally, you don't have to rely on natural light... most of my shadow images are done using a cheap gooseneck desk lamp... but flashlights work just as well :)
