@lynnb - Thank you Lynn! We stopped at across the road where there are a bunch of stores that sell anything and everything. A young man working in the ice cream store told be the best sunsets can be seen from on top of the dunes. So we walked over and the scenery was breathtaking.
@ruthmouch - Thank you very much Ruth!! Maybe you can stop the next time you visit your son and climb the dunes. I was amazed at how solid the sand was. I was expecting it to be like you see in the movies where people a slogging up to their knees in sand.
@janets Thank you Janet!! The Outer Banks are quite the experience. We learned this year that there are only 120 local residents in the community were we stay. Which is hard to believe when you see so many cars, all tourist's, when driving.
@mittens - Thank you Marilyn for the wonderful comment!
@sailingmusic - Thank you very much Myrna for the very kind comments and the "congrats"!! I was afraid people might get tired of seeing so many after awhile!
@juleswoome - I bet it can be pretty cold the way the wind blows across the dunes!
@jgilker - Thank you Jessika! It was a very interesting place to get out of your car and walk on the sand. Even though there were many people flying kites, walking and sand boarding it was a serene experience!
