No not really. I heard a noise followed by and other sound. From past experience I recognized the first sound being of a bird striking a window and the second was the sound of a plastic suncatcher hitting the floor. I went to the dining room and looked out the window to see if I could see a bird lying on the ground. There were none to be seen. I found the suncatcher lying on the floor. I then searched the window and when I got to the right angle I made out this almost complete shape of the dove that flew into the window. So I grabbed my camera and found a good angle to take a picture of the imprint without the background interfering. A few minutes later I looked out and this time I saw the dove, It was still alive, but obviously it was dazed. About 20-30 minutes later it had flown away. Best when viewed large to get the most of the ghost effect! To see the poor thing, click here: http://365project.org/skipt07/potpourri/2014-03-10#comment-18197997
How neat that you thought to photograph that image! We have birds fly into our windows all the time and often leave an imprint. Glad the bird survived!
Very cool imprint and congrats on finding the right angle to get such a good shot of it...quite amazing really, like a finger print but a whole body print in this case. Poor bird will probably have a head ache at the least tonight.
What a great story behind this shot! We've occasionally had birds fly into our windows on Beaver Island (lots of wood around) and it is always such a relief to see them able to fly away after being stunned. This shot is truly incredible -- I love it, the ghostly feel, and the clear shape.
