We have had this bird bath for a few years and the birds never seemed interested in it. It wasn't until this year that I learned that birds can't see still water. So I bought a solar-powered fountain to put in the bath and now they are drinking and bathing all the time.
@koalagardens - There is more that goes into the placing of a bird bath. I placed ours somewhat out in the open to make it easier to mow and trim around. According to the article, link below, birds shy away from them do to it making them open to predators and they only like a couple inches of water because they can drown

@skipt07 yes, cover for small birds is critical! I have a big deep one, but with lots of natural cover around it. before I planted the shrubs, only large birds used it, now loads of birds from the smallest wrens and finches use it
