These are wild flowers in the wildlife sanctuary near my work. I thought they looked like the little fuzzy balls on the winter caps that I wore as a child.
Stunning capture Ron, beautiful colours, detail and dof, great positioning of the stamen in the image, looks like a fried egg to me before flipping for over easy;)
That is one bright "pom-pom" this flower's got. Must be a real bee-attracter. Brilliant color, especially considering the pic looks to be taken in bright sunlight.
lol... 'rivergull'. Hadn't thought about that but it's true — there's no sea around here for hundreds of miles! You're so on top of things.
@pcoulson Thanks, Peter. Great observation - it does look like a "sunny side up" egg (although I prefer mine over hard). @dianeburns Yeah, I did have a hard time finding any with petals that didn't look all wilted. Those that did didn't have such interesting stamen. I should have photoshopped the best of both!
@lilminimonka@terryliv@marmaladeskyes Thank You kindly. All I did was let the camera focus on the stamen. I give the camera and the auto focus all of the credit. (And that's hard for me - I've just recently given in to not going manual.) Failing eye sight is a factor too!
@lyndemc Pom pom - that's what I was trying to think of! I'd probably get a better tag match over my choice of fuzzy-balls. Yes, the shot was taken on a bright sunny day. I'm actually a little surprised, as this wasn't shot with the "good" camera. Actually all of my "non-good" camera shots seem to turn out better than the so-called good camera. There's this week's goal - a good shot with the good camera!
