Honoring the Fallen

This is the Riverside National Cemetery, the West Coast version of Arlington National Cemetery. On Memorial Day the Support Committee places a flag on every grave marker. The cemetery covers 921 acres and there are just under 200,000 graves.
What a stunning sight, and way too many graves... One pictures can't take in the scope of it all

How sobering.

Such an awe inspiring, sober, and peaceful scene. Like how Rosecrans National Cemetery as well as virtually all national cemeteries do this on Memorial Day..... Glad you enjoyed your day with Louse and Ken.

Super POV gives a hint of the numbers involved. Everything nicely placed on the thirds. Excellent.

@Weezilou You really can't. It's a massive site. Definitely a solemn place to be, especially on Memorial Day.

@pcoulson Yes, I'm familiar with the British custom also Peter. You've got a bit of a head start on us too!

@pjtphoto Thank you kindly, Peter. Not conscious of the technicalities at all when taking the photo. Note that it was my little S100 P&S. Maybe this picture taking stuff is starting to get ingrained in me by now.
