May/June when the Jacarandas bloom with their distinctive purple flowers is one of the prettiest times in Southern California. They sure do make a mess, though.
One person's "mess" is another's "carpet of purple"... One of the loveliest wedding photos I ever saw of a red-headed bride was of her standing beneath a jacaranda on that "carpet of purple". She was the daughter of a lovely lady I got to know in Australia, and I'll never forget that image! OK...now you know I chat a lot! I love this wonderful image...I tried, but have nothing that can replicate it. It's certainly of a beautiful area!
Another wonderful colorsketch Ron, Jacarada trees are our favorite blossoms so beautiful when out, we don't have them in the UK., have to go to America in May or Australia in October to see them;)
This picture has just made my day! This picture and the title. You see, I used to live in Southern Cal, back when I was 10 years old. (That was a while ago, trust me.) The neighbors had this huge tree that showered purple flowers in my yard once a year and I loved it. But I never knew the name of the tree until just now. THANK YOU for answering that long unanswered question. I have many fond memories of playing under the canopy of lavender blooms, as well as the recollection of lots of sweeping to keep the sidewalk cleaned off. Fav'ing this picture most definitely.
@dianeburns@888rachel@Weezilou@pcoulson Thank You to you all. The consensus seems to be, "yes, they're beautiful - as long as one is not responsible for the mess."
@lyndemc Very happy to be able to fill that long time void in your life, Denise. I hope you hadn't been spending great lengths of time lying awake in bad wrestling with this dilemma! Regardless I hope you are now resting well.
