What a beautiful girl! I hope she successfully raises her children there...a good hide-out indeed! @pixiemac she's a dove, Sarah. They're so much more delicate than pigeons; we get a lot of them in our back-yard feeder.
Ahh. Doves are just the sweetest. If you get a chance to see the babies, be prepared for a shock. Cute is not exactly their speciality, at least not until they grow into their beaks.
@pixiemac Thanks Sarah. Yes, as Louise confirmed, she's a dove. The nest is under a deck located off of my upstairs bedroom. She sometimes comes out on the deck and sits on a pillar and utters the dove's very distinctive call. Had she been a pigeon, I'm sure I would have had several little old men with bags of crumbs hanging out in my back yard. ;-)
@dianeburns@888rachel@Weezilou Thanks ladies. I was getting a bit worried because she seemed to have abandoned the nest over the days since I posted this photo. However I'm happy to report that she was back again today. I haven't climbed up to see if there are eggs there yet.
@lyndemc I've had a few nests in the yard over the years. They are definitely the easy going type. But I haven't had the experience of seeing the young ones. All beak and nothing else I take it. I hope to be able to experience the birth and growth.
