Larry by stray_shooter

Larry

Larry is a beautiful chow chow that was being walked by his owner. She kindly complied with my request to photograph him. After snapping 4 or 5 shots I thanked her and got up to leave and noticed that no less than five people had descended on us with their smart phone cameras in like buzzards zeroing in on roadkill. Some were posing with him and taking selfies and other goofy shots. I felt a little bad for starting all of the commotion (but I think Larry and even his owner were secretly loving the attention).

What I learned in taking this photo: Cute dog plus photographer with professional camera equals iPhone rush.
Wonderful capture of the textures of Larry's coat and a great 'pose' too..

Nice dog, nice capture and not least a nice story to go with it.

A beautiful Chow ( that's what we all them in America - I kind of like chow-chow better though). Mother was afraid of Chows and wouldn't let me pet them, it took me a long time to realize they are sweet, intelligent dogs. Larry is awesome!

What an amazing face -- this is a great portrait!

Super portrait. They are quite a handful to groom, I have two who come to me for grooming a few times a year.

This is fabulous. What a gorgeous dog. Course, you know me and dogs.... They are a magnet for me. Gotta FAV, Ron!! Like your comment about professional camera and cell phone rush. I've seen it happen too.

Great portrait of a beautiful dog. I've heard they can be temperamental but they are the cutest thing in the world when they're puppies. They look like little bears. Even cuter than Boo Boo Bear The Dog.

@jorlam Thanks so much. He sure had a rich, thick coat. I think he's a natural at posing.

@cottiac Thanks Cottia - he is a fine doggie for sure.

@runner365 Thanks so much Claes. Happy to have you stopping by to comment.

@louannwarren Thanks Lou Ann. How sad that mama wouldn't let you pet them. Maybe the black tongue freaked her out?

@kurtl525 Thanks Kurtis. iPhone rush/surge, whatever we might term it - it's getting a bit annoying all these folks invading our world. ;-) I kid.

@taffy Thanks very much Taffy. High praise!

@salza Thanks Sally - I'll bet they are a handful when it comes to grooming. I gave thought to taking in a Samoyed until I learned about the challenges in keeping them groomed. If it was easy I guess everyone would do it.

@pcoulson Thanks Peter. I like the way you term that - canine portrait. Awesome!

@jorlam No flamingo?!? Hey, it was Thursday in my time zone when I posted. Don't fear though, this week's flamingo has been posted. :-)

@naomi Thanks Naomi. A bit of a correction though - he was in no was lil! A good size doggie he was. Thanks for stopping by.

@aglennc Thanks Anita. I was pretty sure I'd hear from you on this one. ;-)

@joysfocus @joysfocus Thanks Joy. Cuter than Boo Boo the dog?!? Impossible! OK, yeah, he was very cute.

You even got the famed blue Chow tongue in the shot! I can just imagine the paparazzi frenzy you got started.

They're irresistibly beautiful dogs...I'd have zeroed in as well! I love this photo!

We used to have a chow chow cross when we were kids. Rufus was the most beautiful, placid dog you could ever wish for. And yes, he retained his blue tongue. Just like a lizard.

I can't imagine what it must cost to have this big guy groomed! Our two little little ones are $45 each every six to seven weeks.
