High key is a bit out of the ordinary for me, but it was the challenge issued to me by Pam B, @adrienneb, as part of this week's Get Pushed challenge. With white seemingly the preferred tone for a high key shot, I thought a white goose would be appropriate.
The details of his eyes and beak really stand out in this editing choice. That reflection though — owwwie - looks like he's got a serious dent in his noggin.
Well his reflection is kind of off where his body meets the middle of the reflection....he may have had too much rum last evening, smile! In fact, on further reflection (pun intended) the swan on the bottom half doesn't appear to be the same bird as the one on the top! Other than those observations, it's a swell photo, one that keeps the observer, observing. LOL
i know he's not but it looks like he's sticking his tongue out at you.. he's not looking relaxed, quite startled in fact.. but still keeps that wary but haughty look about it. i love the quirky/curvy reflection and the 'bow-wave' caused by the forward motion.. there are lots of textures in the feathers but the processing has rendered them quite softly..
Lovely composition and reflected light all beautifully captured in the interesting high key image Ron, its not really my cup of tea but you have met the challenge admirably its so very well presented:)
@lyndemc I never noticed that until you pointed it out. Looks like his head got squeezed in a vice or something! Yikes! Thanks for stopping by to view and comment my friend. ;-)
@louannwarren I don't remember him moving so fast that he created such a dramatic bow wave. That did mess with the reflection some, but what the heck. Thanks for your comments Lou Ann.
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie. Other than my white cat and white motorcycle, it occurs to me that I don't shoot white very often at all! So the high key challenge was a good one for me to tackle.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. I know what you mean - not the kind of shot I usually seek or consider much either. But that's the fun of the Get Pushed challenges, which do just that - push you into areas that you normally don't venture, and that's always interesting. :-)
@adrienneb Thanks very much! It was definitely a good challenge that pushed me beyond my normal realm of photography. I'm forced to take a temporary break from getting pushed sadly, as I'll be away for a bit and limited in my ability to take photos. I'll miss it!
