Portrait of a Lorikeet by stray_shooter

Portrait of a Lorikeet

The animals seem to be posing for me lately. Since I posted Portrait of a Butterfly, I figured why not post a Portrait of Rainbow Lorikeet? Much easier to capture than a butterfly, but equally as colorful.
This is great with the bokeh setting off the bird so well.

Wonderful color, detail, and an unusual bokeh. Quite lovely, but sort of in between in terms of size. So I checked out the photo details and discovered, to my surprise that you were shooting with a Nikon D85. Surprised because when we last met up in person, I thought I remembered you being a Canon guy who was transitioning over to the mirrorless Sony. How do you like the D850. It happens that I recently got one for myself and am loving it of course. Except for that I wouldn't mind it having a pop-up flash for convenience sake. But I love most everything else about it. Was the 135 lens you used a prime or a zoom? i'm guessing a prime.. In any case, very nice.

Fantastically gorgeous with all that bouncing bokeh! I'm not sure if I even looked (carefully) thorough all of mine yet! Might just draw upon one to post for today, tomorrow...

Beautiful shot, they are such cheeky birds. We have had a gang of them in our garden this evening eating the seed we put out for them. The little corellas were here too, but the lorikeets put up a fight to get to the seed first even though the corellas are three times their size.

Your talent shines in this shot with that bokeh, it makes this bird more beautiful than ever. He’s fabulous!
