Since the rain will not let up, I figured I had to take advantage of it somehow, so I did what any rain-weary photographer would do, I brought out my duck. It took about a thousand exposures, and I'm grateful that the XQD card buffer is huge, so I finally achieved what I was after, which I guess you could call a backsplash? Sorry. Now to erase the other 999 useless images.....
Oh this is a delight, and SO SO YOU!! (Not so-so, but so VERY!) Often I find that my fave of my 1000 tries was somewhere near the outset; I just hand't had faith in myself! This is adorable and a well-captured rain fall!
@louannwarren Thanks Lou Ann. It's kind of funny how the "walk on water" look came about. It's actually the top of a glass table in my back yard. I chose it because it's uneven and a large amount of water had pooled at one side. I didn't realize that I'd get such a nice reflection and the appearance of a lake. Sometimes ya just get lucky.
@taffy Thanks Taffy. Rainy days are definitely a challenge to someone who's so used to shooting outdoors. Hope your weather clears up soon. And welcome home!
@Weezilou I wish I had your luck. I had to go back out in the rain three times to get something useful. The rain was really coming down during the first two attempts and I was worried about the camera and lens becoming too wet, so tried to work under an umbrella, which as a total disaster. Despite my efforts the lens got splash marks on it anyway, ruining several photos. Then the many high speed shots killed battery number one. That and trudging in and out of the house in the wet conditions resulted in me soaking my family room floor, freaking out the cats, and me looking like a drowned rat. What we do for a photo. Good thing this made PP and TP!!
@joannakate Thanks Joanna. You pointed out something that had only subconsciously occurred to me - the colours in the raindrops. Must be a spectrum thing, light hitting each drop in a different way. May have to pursue that......in about a year when it rains again.
