It's Friday, and you know what that means! Today's flamingo seem either fascinated or angered by the fellow looking back at him through the water. I like that he made such a regular series of concentric circles with his beak.
I think he (or she?) looks totally fascinated by his or her own reflection. Love the wide open eyes and the way they are captured in the reflection too.
Flamingo Friday. My favorite day of the week. Love that shot. It's great. The detail in the feathers. The cool reflection the concentric circles. The composition. Fav.
Such perfect timing, getting him with his unique beak just touching the surface of the water. Passionate colors in this photo.
About the Favorite Things photo and the cooperative parrot, she never did get up. She just laid there looking around until I stopped with the shutter button and came to pick her up. Even I was impressed with her willingness to be photographed in that position.
@shannejw@dianen@pamknowler@louannwarren@imnorman@summerfield@bizziebeeme@taffy@onewing@mwhipple@mbrutus@markp@pcoulson@lyndemc Thanks to you all for the wonderful comments and response to this past week's flamingo. Several commented on the distinctive red eye. This is a characteristic of this breed, which is the Lesser Flamingo. Flamingos typically feed with their bill upside down in water, but the Lesser version does not often dip his bill below the surface, which is why the ripples formed on the water in this case.
OK...THIS should have been on the PP...IMHO! This is unique and beautifully shot! Can't even recall what I was up to last Fri, but the Flamingo didn't make an appearance. I already have/had a photo for tomorrow, but will rethink it...and play with the new software again ; )
