Lone Holdout

Winter in Southern California is when most of the leaves fall off of the deciduous trees....well, in actuality, they really get blown off when the Santa Ana winds blow....except for those stubborn few that refuse to go. Like these.
Nicely observed. Lovely shot. And a very Happy New Year to you.

Nice pop of red against the deep blue sky

This is gently appealing! Thank you for your comment on my rhino, too!

Just holding on til Ron captures them.

I especially love the light coming into the frame in the top left corner.

Well spotted Ron the colour and detail stands out well against the background:)

Lovely colour of those last leaves against that fabulous blue sky!!

And they're holding on to their color too. If we have any hangers-on, they're brown and withered! I like how the red/orange pops against the gorgeously blue sky!

Well, HEY! backatcha! Nice surprise, finding you on my "365" pic page. Made me smile to think about you being back with the Project.
Colorful scene you've got here; great blue sky for a backdrop for the two tough leaves.

@mbrutus Thanks Marshall. And I trust you are having a similarly good New Year!

@salza Thanks Sally, good to hear from you!

@domenicododaro Thanks Dom. I like the way you put that, "gently appealing." I'm feeling more relaxed already.

@imnorman Hey, Ian, good to hear from you! Thanks for your earlier kind note, and my humble congrats to you for completing an entire year so successfully - something I've failed to do for seven years running now. I managed to obtain a new iPhone 11 Max, and whoa, does this thing take great photos! Maybe I could persuade you to grab one of those and treat us to some more of those great shots of yours. ;)

@runner365 Thanks Claes, but between you and me that's a little photoshop magic that I added in there. The sun was actually behind me giving me that great illumination on the leaves. The shot just seemed to be needing a little enhancement. I plead guilty to falsifying!

@pcoulson Thanks very much Peter. You know me and those blue skies!

@pamknowler Thanks Pam. I kind of unintentionally stumbled onto (not quite) complimentary colours, I guess.

@olivetreeann Thanks Ann, and thanks for the follow (although I though you already were a follower). As I mentioned to Pam, I ended up, sort of by accident, capturing complementary colors....well, colours in her language. ;-)

@lyndemc Always good to hear from one of my favorites! Thanks for the kind words, and keep 'em coming!!
