Some areas of the country are beginning to return to normal, but here in Southern California restrictions are still in place in many places. My community still does not allow kids to gather in the play areas, and they confirm that by locking up the swing sets. I wonder if I'll get a break on my HOA fees. π
I sure hope they unchain the playgrounds soon. But I've noticed the kids have been playing games on the neighborhood streets like we used to back in the day.
Unfortunately this is still the case in the UK Ron, we are still getting around 350 deaths per day with 1,800 confirmed cases per day in England I can't see an end to this for a very long time:)
@pcoulson I just read your response Peter with those amazing satatistics! That's so terrifying that you have so many deaths and confirmed cases - please stay safe and i hope it slows down very soon for you all.
Such a sign of our times. Thankfully our playgrounds are open. This is a sad image, I feel so sorry for parents who donβt have yards for their children to play in, they need playgrounds!!!!!
It's really hit or miss everywhere. I guess they'd have to put someone on full-time to wipe everything down if they did open it and people actually used it. Don't hold your breath on the HOA- ours does nothing for us and they'd come after us if we did nothing for them! haha
@redy4et I agree, Elizabeth. The kids in my neighborhood have taken to chalk drawing on the sidewalks like we did as kids too. There's something kind of cool about that.
@gardenfolk Yeah, I don't think that all of the side effects have really been considered in all of these restrictions - like allowing kids to be kids. Hopefully it won't go on for much longer. The argument for kids being very low risk is a strong one.
@pcoulson Wow, I did not realize that the problems were that massive in the UK, Peter. That's a huge eye opener. Stay safe, my friend, and may all of my British friends emerge from this quickly and safely.
@louannwarren Thanks Lou Ann. The recent trend in this area is to provide designated play areas since the yards are so small (California land is so pricey that a big yard is just not common). Since they took these away there's really no place for the kids to go. Really sad.
(rolls eyes...) as if kids don't have a difficult enough time understanding all this already! ...and yet they're supposed to go back to classrooms? Too much doublespeak!
