grand place, bruxelles by summerfield

grand place, bruxelles

another old photo from my sojourn in europe in '84-ish. the architecture in europe is just amazing! work of geniuses, i say. this would've been taken in august, after the carpet of flowers display which i believe takes place in july.

partner is quite impressed with these old photographs, that I've been taking good photos even then, that the buildings are straight, and that even at that time, i already have the propensity to take photos of people taking photographs - see man in jeans and white adidas sneakers on the lower left of the left photograph. hahaha!

he doesn't mind that europe, brussels in particular, hold a special place in my heart; he knows it is in the past, and what really matters is the here and now.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; please know that they are truly appreciated.
What a nice trip back in time! Yes, you had quite the eye even back then...may your path lead you back there someday to revisit your old haunts and reminisce...

Nice shot. I've never been to Bruxelles but I've been thinking it would be a nice place to visit. But we really don't like the EU much here in Norway so maybe not ;-)

Oh wow. I did not realize it at first, until you said about the carpet of flowers, but I have been here! We got a really great travel deal about ten years ago.. Our aim was to get to Paris/France,but it was more expensive than this deal we found to go to Brussels...The deal was to fly into CDG airport, then ride the TGV to Brussels..for about $450. So we did that, stayed one night in Brussels, walked around a bit, had dinner. The next day, we drove a rental car to Paris and stayed in an apt. for a week. Then back to Brussels to drop car off, and TGV ride to CDG. It was sort of nutty, but great for tourists like us to see alot of stuff along the way. The man with the sneakers makes you realize the huge scale of this elegant bunch of buildings! Glad partner is not jealous of your love of the place! :0)
