there's a bridge to tomorrow
there's a bridge from the past
there's a bridge made of sorrow
that i pray will not last
there's a bridge made of colors
in the sky high above
and i think that there must be
bridges made out of love"

it's been raining on and off the whole day and this afternoon the sun peeked out several times but pockets of storms made for a crazy evening sky. it rained while i was on the train going home. when i came out of the subway station, the rain has stopped, the sky was filled with purplish-grey clouds and the sun was setting, casting a gorgeous gold on buildings and the top of the trees. i was going to ignore it and just walk home, but instinctively, i reached for my camera from my purse. i took photos of the street looking west, eerie silhouettes of cars and people on vivid gold, the people behind me waiting for the lights to change stared in awe. a young woman standing beside me said, "isn't it gorgeous?" then she took out her cellphone and started to take pictures, a few people did the same. see it here:

on the other side of the street now, i continued to shoot the sky filled with the golden glow on the horizon with a canopy of gilded dark clouds. it was almost surreal. then i turned to continue my walk towards home, reaching for my phone to tell partner to get out and look at the sunset and maybe drive over to the lookout, when i saw this vivid rainbow across the sky, perfectly arched over danforth avenue. i seemed to have heard a voice saying "i'm here and you're taking a picture of a sunset you could not really see?". i stopped walking and unconsciously let out a loud "WOW!" people around me looked up and saw the rainbow; they, too, fished out their cellphones and started taking pictures of the rainbow. if you look closely, there's a second arch, but not as vivid, starting from that lamp post on the left.
my only regret was that my camera could not capture the whole rainbow. i've not seen this in a long time. i think the last time i photographed a rainbow was in the early 80's and it was only a snippet, and the last time i saw a whole arch of rainbow was when i was a teenager. still, i am happy with this.
sooc but for a slight crop.
you've captured it beautifully here! even the ghost rainbow beside it... very nicely done!
