during our thanksgiving weekend, one of the big grocery stores was giving away a full size pineapple for a one-time shopping spend of $50 or more. most people chose the prepared pineapple and by the time we got to the cashier, there was nothing left for us except the unprepared one. not a problem, i've prepared a few pineapples in my home when i was a teenager. hahaha! that was forty-some years ago. partner had a sneer in his face when i made my way to the big pile of dole brand pineapples and i expertly chose the most beautiful looking of the lot, which also happened to be in a just-ripe stage.
so, yesterday morning, before going to work, i decided i wanted my pineapple for dinner and since i had some time, i started the task while partner was having his cereal and reading his morning paper.
when he came back to the kitchen counter, i was already washing the prepared pineapple, all peeled and the 'eyes' carved out into this gorgeous looking spirally pineapple the sweetness of which just wafted through the kitchen.
i was going to core the pineapple without cutting it up, but i didn't want to impress him too much!
Very artistic. I spent many hours in my youth on a farm that grew pineapples. We were spoilt in that we could pick from the plant, chop off the top and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. We'd eat at least one a day!
Wow, that is very impressive!! And, well documented, as well....love the collage of the various stages. And, I thought I was doing well by just cutting the pineapple in 4 sections, and rearranging the slices in each "boat". This is true artistry!
Cool collage! My sister in law this past weekend was asking me the proper way to chop up a pineapple. I told her to google it. We could have just used your collage.
