one morning you open the paper and you notice your name in the obituary? your picture, your name, your family details, your birthday. everything in it seems to suggest you're dead and yet you know you are so alive.
there are a lot of cases where people's obituary had been published or announced when in fact they were well and alive or just before they died.. peter boyle, sean connery, queen elizabeth, fidel castro, etc. to name a few. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_premature_obituaries
i have prepared my own obituary as part of our writing assignment a long time ago. i revise it from time to time as i intend to use it should i kick the bucket. but what would stir me from the grave would be the fact that the publication made a typo error in publishing the obit. now that would be one nightmare for me.
that one small candle is the only source of lighting for this photo.
for november, i'm shooting black and white with bill fenske @bill_fe . today and tomorrow, we're doing the candlelight theme for the current camera settings challenge, then we'll have four weekly themes. feel free to join us. i have made an outline of how i would do it, as a guide. you are welcome to derive from it or deviate from, it's not a contest. the point is to concentrate on black and white and the elements that go with the genre and not get bored with it. please scroll down to the comments below for my outline, if you are interested.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly and genuinely appreciated.
that is indeed spooky darling - the only thing is why would it be so dark in the morning? hihihi, kidding I actually really like this, exposure is spot and the idea, thought provoking. I was missing your posts recently and started 'combing' my project. I noticed I was not following you! tut tut but all rectified now :)
Love this one and looking so forward to the rest of your offerings this month.
I may never get the second half of my sewer tart picture because if I squat down like that (and it is assuming I CAN) I may never be able to get back up again!! I haven't given up just yet though.
@grammyn - that was my problem, too! good thing i had the remote so i took a lot hoping one would turn out good. believe you me, the knees, legs, feet and back hated me for quite a few days. :-) thank you, katy.
Hi , I am your get pushed partner for this week. I enjoyed looking through your portfolio. You have many great still shots so my challenge to you for this week is to capture some action that isn't posed- a street shot or a stop action shot. Hope you have fun with the challenge.
@bill_fe she does... and i might... we'll see... i can definitely do black and white all month... not sure how consistent i can be in terms of sticking to a theme, though...
@northy@salza - this is my outline of how i'm going to do this black and white thing for november. you don't have to stick to it or you can deviate from it to suit your style and time:
1st and 2nd - candlelight challenge which is the csc theme. i will be posting the coloured version for these two days just because candlelight colour methinks gives a different feel. just for two days though.
3rd to 9th - movie scene, literary scene or even the song scene since there's a new song challenge.
10th to 16th - landscape or anything outdoorsy e.g. street
17th to 23rd - objects that start with N - just because i enjoyed wearing my thinking cap for that o for october challenge.
24th to 30th - thanksgiving
and the N words just so you don't have to stress yourself, here's a few:
newspaper
nail or nail polish
neck or necklace
night
nib
nickel
nine
noodle
noose
nose
note
nugget
nurse
nun
nut
nutcracker
nutmeg
needle
nest
net
nettle
nectarines
nasturtium
The black and white in this one obviously has more drama. Does your b/w month have a tag? I may join in for a week or two (10-16 and 17-23 look fun). After doing the October word list with the Critters, I'm not wanting to do a whole month of anything!
Can you please share with us what your challenge was for the get-pushed-118. I have read through all the comments and I love the shot but I cannot figure out what the challenge is.

@salza - oh, please do! it should be fun - to see how much we're kicking ourselves for so doing! :-D
@jazhirst - it is, isn't it? thank you, jasmine.
@frida - well, there could be a power failure. :-D and it's winter!! thank you, frida.
@edie - thank you, edie.
@lesip - hahaha! thank you, leslie.
